Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow – safety has, is and will always be an important topic for all children. The world we live in today is amazing, but with it comes more responsibilities to make sure our children are safe in a variety of settings: settings 20 and 30 years ago we could not even imagine. School tragedies, social media bullying and predators, and community safety are just a few of the critical topics that adults must address with children.
The Joshua Center has worked exclusively with children with High-Functioning Autism, Tourette, OCD and ADHD for over 20 years. With our highly respected programs and services in the Greater Kansas City Community, we have become a beacon of hope for families.
Using our own Me and My World™ Social Skills Games and Curriculum, we have found success with children across the metro area. More than 100 schools in the area are now using the program.
We also offer two residential summer camps each summer that are accredited with the American Camp Association. As we grew, we realized we had the opportunity and responsibility to combine our years of camp and social skills experiences and develop a “Safety Smarts” program to be another branch of the Me and My World™ Social Skills Board Games and Curriculum.
This summer we are holding a four day Safety Smarts Day Camp Program at the Rotary Camp in Lee’s Summit. The camp will be educational and fun at the same time.
